In early 2008 I was asked to put together a training program that would prepare dancers for the first Tribal Fusion Teacher certificate in Switzerland.

    Through my experience over the past few years teaching many WS’s and observing other WSs, I developed this program. My goal was to address many of the problems that dancers had while attending various Tribal workshops. This program will build fundamentals of Tribal style dancing, strengthen what you may or may not already know, open yourself up for more and hopefully inspire growth for your own unique dance style.

    The program is a series of workshops where we will learn topics such as anatomy, muscles etc. We will experiment with music and movement, learn combinations, use techniques from Aela’s personal training background to maximize your success in training various muscles used in Tribal style belly dance. We will incorporate yoga to stretch and gain more flexibility.

    Every WS participant will receive hand outs that when combined become a useful handbook and practice companion. Not only will you have written version of the material studied, but also pictures to show you how to do the exercises and Yoga postures.

    The program can be booked as a whole or in individual sessions (if space is available). It is recommended that you book the program as a whole as each session builds on the previous one and dancers may have difficulty catching up if sessions are missed. Please note that dancers who book the entire course will have priority.

Cost: $180.00 for all 4 weekends. (16 hours of class)

          $55.00 if booked individually

Saturday, January 23rd, 2010 - Gloucester (11am-3:30pm)
Anatomy: “Focus on the gluteus”. Good and clean Tribal technique relies on the gluteus for the sharp hip movements. Learn to find it, feel it, and drill to isolate the movements better by using Personal Trainer exercises as well as drilling basic tribal moves. We will then pack them into stunning combinations. This session will also feature a short Yoga sequence at the end of class and a Q&A with Aela.

Sunday, February 21st, 2010 - Gloucester (11am-3:30pm)
Anatomy: “Focus on Hips and Chest”. Learn how to do those killer backbends without killing yourself. We will use Personal Trainer exercises to strengthen the Hips and Abs preparing you for those glorious back bends we all know and love. All of that will be incorporated it into combinations. This session will also feature a short Yoga sequence at the end of class and a Q&A with Aela with a short lecture on nutrition for dancers.

Saturday, June 19th, 2010 - Gloucester (Hip Expressions Studio)(10am-2:30pm)
Anatomy: “Focus on Thighs and Abs”. We will use various Personal Training techniques to prepare your body for the epitome of Tribal dancing, the Turkish Drop, down …. and UP! We will also focus on floor work. We will also experiment with musical interpretation and improvising. This session will also feature a short Yoga sequence at the end of class and a Q&A with Aela.

- Gloucester (Hip Expressions Studio)(11am-3:30pm)
Anatomy: “Focus on your Core”. Strengthen your core with Personal Training exercises.  Learn what it means to use your core for dancing. We will then apply what we have learned to master fluid and eloquent turns and learn how your breath can help. We will work on the art of adding a prop and then balancing that prop. This session will also feature a short Yoga sequence at the end of class and a Q&A with Aela.
