     Aela and Wicked Hips are proud to announce our headliner for Tribal Delight 2012; the amazing, Jill ParkerTD12 will also feature workshops and performances by Chaaya, Kaitlyn, Nandana, Amelia, Aela & Eric Blohm, Angela as well as many other amazing performers that will be dancing in the Gala show.

We are pleased to announce that all workshops will be held in the luxurious studios of the Eastern Virginia School for the Performing Arts (EVSPA) in beautiful Williamsburg VA.

Staying true to previous Tribal Delights having themes, we decided that this year should be no different. The theme of the show this year is
"The Time Machine: a Belly Dance Voyage through Time and Space".

We encourage all spectators to the Tribal Delight show to arrive in your finest Victorian/Steampunk/Cyberpunk/etc. attire.

Workshop with Jill Parker:
Slinky Serpentine Folk Combinations the Jill Parker Method:
In this workshop Jill shares a slinky and fun folk choreography. She breaks down earthy folk movements & sensual combinations in easy to understand layers. Her teaching places emphasis on the importance of embodying movements fully, making clean transitions and having a slinky yet clean approach to timing. This experience will surely bring a new repertoire of movement to your belly dance!

Workshop with Chaaya:
Introduction to Bollywood
Description: Chaaya will lead students through movements inspired from Bollywood movies, exploring history, techniques and sharing a short fusion choreography in her own style.
In this 2 hour workshop Chaaya will first focus on the origins of Bollywood, the hands positions and meanings (Mudras), construction and feelings in Bollywood songs to help you build a Bollywood-inspired choreography. Then, she will teach students her interpretation of one of the most famous Bollywood songs “Nimbooda Nimbooda”.

Stage Make-up with Aela
In this workshop, Aela shares her makeup techniques and secrets that will have you perfectly done up regardless of the performance. Whether it be Cabaret or tribal, restaurant or the big stage, these techniques will having you looking your best. Bring your own makeup, fake eyelashes and a mirror so we can experiment with the makeup you already have. You'd be amazed how you can go from ordinary to diva with these simple tricks.

Clever Combinations for the Adventurous Dancer!

Kaitlyn and Nandana have combined their love of both Indian and tribal style belly dance into one amazing workshop.  They will share combinations that include elements of Indian dance (Kathak, Bharata Natyam, and dances from Rajasthan), ATS and their own signature movements.  These combinations can then be added to your group improvisation or choreographies enhancing your performances and inspiring the audience.

Showgirl Flair! Bringing Smolder and Sass to the Stage with Amelia
Add a heavy dose of dramatic flair and explore your glamorous side! In this workshop, Amelia will share how luscious arm movements, leggy poses and bombshell attitude will help you build character and dimension, as well as how timing and tempo changes add depth and intrigue to your performances. Learn dynamic, mesmerizing combinations blending sensual fluidity with smoldering expression, flirtatious accents and a hint of cha-cha-cha!

Angela Bellamy-Knowles will teach right-angle weave and tubular peyote, incorporating sparkly Swarovski crystals. With these two versatile stitches, you can create your own jewelry or sew it on to your costumes, taking a $100 costume and making it look like you spent $1,000!

Recognize and identify main rhythms of Arabic music. Aela will share some of her favorite combinations while Eric accompanies the class with live drumming. Aela will also share tips, tricks, and her own technique when dancing to live music.

About Jill Parker:

Jill Parker, Mamma of the modern tribal fusion belly dance movement is an award winning teacher/choreographer, founder of Ultra Gypsy Dance Theater, and director of the Foxglove Sweethearts. She's an original member of Fat Chance Belly Dance, and with over two decades of experience, has trained the top belly dancers in the genre. Jill's big heart and deep love for this intoxicating form shine through in her classes and performances. She's an exceptional teacher with a knack for demystifying this sensuous dance, making it accessible to new dancers while offering insight for refinement and subtlety to the most advanced dancers.

About Chaaya Nachni

Chaaya, a French belly dancer from Paris, was born in a small island in the Indian Ocean. Music and dance has always been an important part of her life. She fell in love with belly dance eight years ago and it has become an intense passion. After several travels to the Middle East to study classical Egyptian and folkloric dances she discovered modern belly dance and the fusion style. 4 years ago, Chaaya decided to add Bollywood to her repertoire only to discover from her family that she had Indian origins herself.
Chaaya is also a member of “Wicked Hips” created and directed by Aela Badiana and “Saleema Habiba” created and directed by Kalaa.

About Nandana

Nandana has a passion for both ATS (American Tribal Style) and TGI (Tribal Group Improv). She has her general skills and teacher training certifications from Carolena Nericcio of FCBD and has achieved Sister Studio status. In addition to ATS and tribal belly dance, Nandana has studied the Indian dance style, Kathak, and incorporates elements of this, Bharatanatyam, and dances of Rajasthan into her dance repertoire. Nandana performs as a soloist and as a member of Blue Moon Dance Company. She regularly partners with such talents as Twilight Tribal and Kaitlyn Bellydance among others. Her focus is on creating dynamic group improvisation and choreographies that are filled with beauty and life! About Kaitlyn

Kaitlyn is a professional bellydance artist who teaches and performs on the coast of NC and beyond. She is always inspired by this ancient and ever evolving art form as seeks to learn as much as she can through studying and teaching various styles that include Egyptian and Cabaret, ATS, and Tribal Fusion. Among some of her accomplishments in dance, Kaitlyn has attended week-long intensives w/ Aziza of Montreal, completed Levels I & 2 of Sahra Saeeda's Journey Through Egypt cultural certifaction program, judged at the Stellar Advantage Troupe Challenge in 2010 & 2011 and performed alongside Indian Bollywood star Raggeshwari in 2008. Eric J. Blohm is a life long musician who plays Doumbek, Frame Drum, Keyboards, Santoor and Baglama Saz.
He has written, recorded and performed original music for various dance troupes in Virginia and North Carolina.
They include Salima Habiba, Wicked Hips and Isis Rising in Virginia and Vatra Gitana and The Sofa King Naughties in North Carolina.

About Amelia

Amelia has a classical foundation in ballet and has studied and performed cabaret and tribal fusion belly dance across the U.S. for 14 years. Her passion lies within dark fusion, specializing in dynamic and theatrical pieces in her own style of Carnival Noir, in which she often incorporates a variety of props, such as parasols, sword, zills and fire~~~

About Aela

Aela, born and raised in Germany, is well known for both her Tribal and Cabaret style. She teaches weekly classes, as well as Workshops in the US & Europe. When she is not teaching BD and Tribal, she works as a Personal Trainer, Yoga Instructor, and is a certified Nutrition and Wellness Councilor. Her teaching is based on a well rounded knowledge that incorporates all aspects of physical fitness and motivates her students to strive for their personal best. That combined with her vision & love of belly dance as an art form, has shaped her dance and teaching style. She has released one instructional DVD under her own production company, AB Productions and the second DVD is nearly finished.
