Hello and Welcome to my webpage. My name is Aela Badiana. I live & teach in
Stuttgart Germany. It is nice to "meet you".

My biggest passion in life is belly dance, right after my beautiful daughter and my wonderful husband. I am fortunate enough to be able to teach and perform this exciting art form.

I am available to teach workshops on various styles of cabaret and Tribal. You can book me to perform at your next event. Please contact me through the "Feedback" page of this site.

I am also a certified Personal Fitness Trainer with the Aerobic & Fitness Association of America as well as a Yoga Fit, Level 2 certified instructor.

Below you can read more about me or you can skip straight to the other pages listed in the menu bar. Thanks for stopping by. ~Aela~

When I was little I always wanted to become a dancer. So I experimented a lot with ball room dancing, jazz dance, and also gymnastics. For a while there, I got really into fitness and obtained the qualifications required to teach at German fitness studios. Callanetics, Aerobics, Step Aerobics and later Salsa Aerobics were my specialties.  After I had my daughter a new challenge was needed.

In 2001 I started dancing with the Polizei Sports Club in Pirmasens in Egyptian style dance, both folkloristic and contemporary.  My teachers there were Nadia Van der Stam (Lemberg Germany) & Ramona Marischka  (Eppenbrun Germany). During that time I cross-trained in American Tribal Style Belly dance with the professional dance group “Setareh Ha”.

This is where I taught aerobics. I took  seminars through the German sports club association on salsa aerobics, kick boxing aerobics, and stretching.

After moving to Stuttgart in 2002 I focused on Oriental dancing and studied under such masters as “Morocco” (New York USA), “Sabuah Shanaz” (Augsburg Germany), “Magdy El Leisy” (Syria), “Sherazade” (Stuttgart Germany), “Ramsey” (New York USA), “Lubna” (Cairo), “Valeria Storm-Raiser” (Stuttgart), the German legend “Samara El Said”, Aziza (USA/Canada), Zoe Jakes (USA), Suzanna Del Veccio (USA), Beata & Horacio (Berlin), Kajira Djoumahna (USA), Raksan (Berlin) and my personal favorite Sharon Kihara (USA) & many others that have had an effect on me...

The majority of this training was to analyze and learn the various styles of Middle Eastern dance as well as how to incorporate classical ballet, ballroom dancing and contemporary dance into my own unique style.

In 2003, I founded the dance troupe, “Patch Amiras”. What started out as a dance/workout class quickly evolved to a performance group. We put on their first professional show entitled “Aisha’s Quest” at Patch Barracks US military base in Stuttgart Germany. Many local performances followed to include Turkish Weddings and guest performances at other professional shows. I performed with my dance group as well as a soloist.

Since then, I have taught numerous workshops on technique as well as my own choreographies. In my travels to Turkey, I have had the opportunity to dance on several occasions to Turkish audiences. While in Istanbul, Alanya, and Side I gained further experience with authentic Oriental dance.

In July of 2005 I competed in the “East Coast Belly Dance Classic” in VA Beach USA. I entered in the Headliner category and placed 3rd.

In February of 2006, I was invited to perform at the Old Dominion Universities "Local Choreographer's Showcase". I was hired to teach a workshop for the dance students at ODU.

It has always been my goal to educate people about the beauty of ethnic dances.

I have instructed at the Eastern Virginia School for the Performing Arts in Port Warwick, VA. & Williamsburg, VA from 2004 - 2006 as well as in my own studio in Gloucester, VA. After two years in the US, I was ready to embark on a new adventure in Europe. I have resumed teaching and performing in the great city of Stuttgart Germany. For the past two years I have hosted "Tribal Delight". This festival is a celebration of Tribal and Tribal fusion with my personal favorite, Sharon Kihara as the featured instructor. Sharon has been a great inspiration to me and is simply the most awesome teacher one can have. I can't wait to work with her again in the future.

Why choose Aela Badiana?

I think that one of the things that makes me stand out from other dancers is my passion of the art form and my ability to combine authentic movements from various cultural dances with Oriental dance thus creating new impressions. Through intense training I received an overall understanding on how a class needs to be structured and how to push people to their personal limits while not neglecting safety for the body. This knowledge comes into play when I teach and is one of the things that makes me different from many other instructors. That, combined with the countless trainings sessions, workshops and studying have led me to where I am now.

To all of my faithful students who have asked me for instructional DVDs, I'm still working on it. Please be patient as the process is not the easiest. Check the "Merchandise" page frequently for updates....

Inshallah!
